Connectivity to the
Internet is managed by an "inside-out network"
that provides the unique ability for data to travel over
the optimal path to the Internet using the BGP4 routing
protocol, on Cisco routers and switches. The network
employs a Dual OC-12 Smart Ring
provided by Bell South with access to over 500 Mbps of
bandwidth to the Internet. These fiber optic lines
provide individual OC-3 links to the backbone providers.
Backup/fail-over communications is provided by multiple
DS-3 links. The backbone providers include:
 |
OC-3 (155
Mbps) to UUNet |
 |
OC-3 (155
Mpbs) to AT&T |
 |
OC-3 (155
Mbps) to Global Crossing |
 |
DS-3 (45 Mbps)
to Level3 |
 |
